Spiritual, But Not Religious
I was invited to be a guest on a radio show of our local NPR affiliate KCUR. The show is called "Up To Date with Steve Kraske." Once a month Kraske hosts a religion roundtable. Today's topic was "Spiritual, But Not Religious."
I had a great time, and I think the discussion was a good one. If you would like to listen to the show, you can do so here: The Religion Roundtable discusses "Spiritual But Not Religious."
Great show, Tim! I thought the topic was spot on. I have many friends who yearn for truth and access to God but are afraid of what affiliation with a "religion" might imply. Discussions like this make an introduction possible without all the pressure one might feel to hurry their spiritual path along. As though one could. :)

The NT talks about having pure religion. Why are we so afraid of the word?
There is nothing wrong with saying that a Christian practices a religion.
Are we so interested in making friends with the world's culture that we cannot use Biblical language?

TJ,
If biblical language is getting in the way, isn't it more biblical to communicate the ideas and teaching of Scripture than to use the same words as Scripture?
When the Bible talks about "religion", that's translated anyway. Maybe that's not the best word anymore for what the Bible is talking about.

Good show Tim. Do you think you can put up the link for the next discussion they have on "pet dentistry?" That is also something I am very interested in.
