Eastern Travels
I awoke at 5:15 a.m. this morning to catch a 7:30 a.m. flight to Washington, DC, for the week. Well, for part of the week anyway. Arriving in DC at Reagan National, I took the Metro to Union Station, then boarded an Amtrak train to Baltimore's Penn Station. Why? I am here for a couple of reasons.
First, I am gathering with the other members of the board of Amahoro for our February meeting. We will meet both in Tim Hartman's and Brian McLaren's homes for different parts of our time together. Among other things, we are in preparations for the third Amahoro African gathering. The first two gatherings were hosted in the east African nations of Uganda and Rwanda. This year we will be in Johannesburg, South Africa (in fact, if you are interested in participating in this gathering click here for more information).
The second half of the week will be spent at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. It should be really interesting and energy-filled given all that is happening here right now. For this part of my week I will be sharing a hotel room with my friend from Kansas City, Kyle Gillespie. I am excited to get to hang out with Kyle. I'll try to post some updates throughout the week.
Oh, and in the day between the end of the Amahoro board meeting and the National Prayer Breakfast? I brought comfortable shoes to escort me all over DC as I check out the many amazing places here, many I have already seen and some I haven't. I love Washington, DC.
Tonight I am going to watch the Super Bowl at the Hartman's in Baltimore, a cool renovated town-home in what is often called a "transitional" urban neighborhood. I am fascinated by being here though because it is the same area where HBO's show, "The Wire" takes place. I am loving this show and am almost finished with season one (of five).
Stay posted....or as they say on "The Wire" - "Tap in."

I love The Wire! I'm in the 3rd season with only a couple of episodes left. It's a great show!
