Mike Crawford Updates
I am still listening to this record a lot - which is really cool because I already knew the songs really well long before the CD made it into my greedy little fingers. In fact a couple of nights ago I listened to it in bed with good headphones on and it was a totally different experience, owing to the depth and texture of sounds that Mike has woven into the record...
Beyond that, I want to do some quick music FYIs.
First, there are a couple of good reviews worth checking out.
Brian McLaren waxes warmly about the record, as well as a few other musicians known to us around here: What I am Listening to...the Sounds of Kansas City.
Jake Bouma does a full-on review of the record here, then comes back around with the first of a three-part interview with Mike about his journey and the making of the worship CD. Read part one of the interview here.
Second, this Saturday night is the Mike Crawford and His Secret Siblings CD release party at Jacob's Well. This amazing group of musicians is going to play a concert (and have CDs for sale for those who haven't bought one yet). Beyond the amazing music I think there are some cool things planned for the night. The concert is not free: tickets for adults are $10, kids get in for $5, or families can get in for $20. And just in case you are wondering why we are charging for the show, all the money we collect will go to our well project in Pokot as part of the Advent Conspiracy at Jacob's Well.
You can still buy the record online, too: Mike Crawford and his Secret Siblings present Songs from Jacob's Well Volumes I & II: "Even the Darkness Will Not Be Dark to You"
