Bon Iver on La Blogoteque
I mentioned in the post from last week titled, "Some Thursday Morning Randomness," that one of my favorite records this year is Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago.
I have also posted in the past about the work that Vincent Moon does in France convincing musicians to play random shows walking down streets or sitting in apartments. He films these performances and posts them on La Blogotheque as Take-Away Shows.
Tonight I found some great performances by Bon Iver on La Blogotheque - a marvelous intersection. I suggest watching "Flume" (the second take) and "Wolves (Act I & II") here. Then watch "For Emma, Forever Ago" here.
I, too, just found this the other evening. Absolutely astounding. I am in love.

Tim,
I've just joined Mike and the gang on staff over at YouthFront, have been to Jacob's Well the past three weeks with my wife and two young children, and just moved to KC from Minnesota. Hopefully we can chat sometime. Anyway, all that to say, I'm thrilled you've discovered Bon Iver. Justin Vernon (the frontman) was one of my best childhood friends, and his story, along with his music is absolutely inspiring. I'm thrilled for him, and for you, that you've discovered his brilliance.

Welcome Erik! Glad you are hear. Did you bring this weather with you by chance? Also, you think you could pull some strings and get Justin to do a gig down here somewhere - soon? I look forward to meeting you, bro.

Yes, blogotheque! I used to visit that site a lot but have forgotten about it recently. Check out the video by Andrew Bird, it's one of my faves. Thanks for the reminder.
