An Election Prayer from Kenya

I received an email from a Kenyan friend about our election. It is encouraging and amazing to see how what we do in America has such a significant impact on the rest of the world. Here is what he shared with a few of us who were with him in May.

Hello folks,

I know you are going to vote on Tuesday; here in Kenya we are praying that the best candidate wins. We are truly learning a lot from you folks in the way you run your campaigns and we do hope that this will be the best election ever. Here in Kenya, the newspapers have been awash with pics of McCain and Obama as though they were fighting for their seats here....some of the newspapers here have even gone an extra mile and endorsed candidates to run, though we are over 14 hrs away in a flight and thousands of miles away...the world has really become a global village. We are hoping that the elections will be peaceful, and the best candidate wins. The world is waiting...waiting with a bated-breath to see who, between McCain and Obama, will be the new occupant of the White House.

Vote wisely and know we are praying for you all.

These words and his prayer call to my mind what Jesus says in Luke 12:48: "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
