Catching Up, Getting Behind - All That...

Hi friends....

Boy have I been a lousy blogger. Let me give a little context.

I spent the end of July and nearly all of August sick. We are trying to figure out what is going on with me, but it is slow. I am currently doing much better, though trying to be aware of my environment and the ways in which how I live and work contribute to what has been happening in my body. I know that my immunity is in some ways compromised and so anytime some bug comes along I am powerless against. I also know that I am wrestling with exhaustion and growing in awareness of the ways I have lived my life that are unhealthy and not sustainable. Those realities have had a significant impact on my immunity, among other things. In light of that I am trying to work out new ways and rhythms of doing what I am called to do. So that is one part of why this space has sat idle for so long.

The second reason I have not written much (okay, at all) is that I realize that I only have so much writing in me. For those of you who have followed my blog for awhile, you might remember that I used to blog quite a lot, then it dried up for a couple of years. That dry spell corresponds to the time I wrote my book. Like I said, I only had so much writing in me, especially when combined with my other responsibilities. When I had finished writing the book...TA-DA! I started blogging again. It took me about two months to make the connection. I am a little slow. Anyway, as I was sick in August I was also trying to write a 5000 word piece (a "Q Short") on the topic of the "Gospel" for The Fermi Project. The Fermi Project is a cool online journal/community that was started by unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks about Christianity... and Why It Matters co-author Gabe Lyons. In addition to the great journal, they also run a once-a-year TED-like event called "Q." Writing that short pretty much eclipsed any creative endeavor beyond preaching. So that is the other part of why no entries here.

Let me say I am honored that any of you show up to read anything here. I am back to chronicling the aspects of this life that intrigue, interest, or otherwise capture my attention. I will try and do a better job of communicating when things get out of whack. I look forward to interacting with you in the space and community that has been created here. Thanks.
