St. Patrick's Day Parade
Saturday was the annual Brookside St. Patrick's Day parade. We might as well have been in Ireland: gray, rainy, and chilled. We marched with the community of St. Peter's parish, our kids' school. Then we stood to the side and watched until we were too damp and then went for some hot chocolate. I made a little slideshow from our day's adventure.
By the way, I am reading a nice piece of historical fiction from Stephen R. Lawhead about the man who became St. Patrick. Lawhead is at his best with these kinds of pieces. Check out Byzantium, too.
Tim,
Tell me about the music behind the slideshow - wonderful!!!
grace and peace,
Harold

Hey Harold, the music is by Nickel Creek. The song playing under the slideshow is from their first eponymously titled record and is named "In the House of Tom Bombadil." They are a young bluegrass/newgrass band. Outstanding. In fact, they are playing live in Lawrence @ Liberty Hall in April. I've seen them twice and they are amazing.

Hi, Tim! Doug and I missed St. Patrick's. Life on a Norwegian cruise ship just isn't the same....sigh....Two comments: Nickel Creek is fantastic. We haven't seen them, but we have a CD. Also, both D and I have read Patrick in the past year. Great book! Oooops! My monitor is about to slide off my desk onto my lap. Everything's still rocking....

Yeah, Katy, sounds tough. If you've already purchased your tickets for next year's holiday, we'd be happy to switch places with you in order to relieve any sense of homesickness. Let me know. By the way, is "Patrick" the only Lawhead you have read?

Tim, What can I say? Times are tough everwhere.... ;) I've only read Patrick thus far, but (of course) I was mightily pulled into the subject matter. I think Scott and his buddy read a few others when they were twelve, if I remember right. I'm just now ready to delve in! Should I venture next into Byzantium?

Lawhead has done a version of the Pendragon cycle that includes, "Taliesin," "Merlin," and "Arthur." It's pretty good, not outstanding...or maybe I should say the series doesn't deliver on the promise it offers at its outset. Now, it has been five years since I've read Byzantium, but I loved it.
