He's Gone
Goodbye Coach Williams.
I wish you could have left in a way that didn't decimate our program, what was your program, built with care and character for more than a decade. What can you do? Be grateful, I suppose.
Thanks for 15 great years.
Tim,
Condolenses from Colorado. I feel bad for you but it's hard to share the pain when we have a team like the Denver Nuggets here...(not to mention the delayed spring!!)
Just trying to remind you that it could be worse.
Take care!

It's funny though Tim. I also feel the sadness of the whole thing, but at the same time I'm content with it and it seems logical. I have no choice but to respect and wish the best of luck for Roy. I thought I'd be angry and bitter..but nahh. It IS his alma mater, and his family is all that way. Anywho, I'll shut up 'cuz I'm rambling now...

Yeah...I felt that way watching the press conference. I thought about the day when Jacque Vaughn becomes a coach and starts out somewhere like Oregon. He builds a program, has success, then KU comes calling. I'd hardly expect him to stay at Oregon. I think it's hard because we wanted to believe that Roy felt that way about us. I suppose he does to some extent. So I'll just be grateful. And hope we get a great coach.

When Roy decided to stay in Kansas three years ago I wrote to tell him that I understood. He's a man with a lot of heart and he loves KU and the people he met there.
This time the lure of coming back to where he was born graduated college, got his coaching spurs...it was just too much to turn down and I think that any of us would have been wracked with such a decision.
The comments here are a show of class. I hope that others, after the initial hurt, will show Roy Williams the same appreciation and class.
