Where do you spend your money?
I added a section to my blog today called "Spend Your Money Here." It's on the right side of the page. This may be a dumb idea. We'll see. I was just thinking that occassionally I run into businesses, charities, etc., that I believe in. I like the people, believe in what they do (like fix my car, an example of business and charity mixed in one), and want others to benefit from their grace and skill. Heck, I want these businesses to benefit for being good at what they do, too. Every month I'll add another place I spend my money. If you have places, add a comment and tell us about them. Word of mouth. Good stewardship. Viral marketing. All that.
Tim:
I was challenged by your message last night but think that I'm coming away with more questions than answers. I have lately been talking to others about not running the church like a business. It seems that so often today churches hire business people to run their financial operations and turn the institution into a corporation. Business techniques are used to grow the business, increase capital and eliminate 'waste'. Unfortunately, that means eliminating programs to people that don't return money to the institution. This grieves God to his core. However, I am looking for the next step in this thought...what does it look like to be a Christian who runs a business? You talked last night about the battle between consumerism and the faith. Under this thought I am on both sides of the battle. You also quoted Dallas Willard who said, "...the next time you are in a competitive situation, pary that others would be more outstanding, more praised, and more used by God than yourself. Really pull for them and rejoice in their successes." Honestly, I don't know how to do this. Their sucesses are my failures. Really curious of your thoughts.

I, in fact, have tried the " Thai Hot "...never again. It was such devastating experience, the waiter (laughing) offered me the equivalent of the childrens version of Pad Thai. I am not brave.
